Why I Chose Tinyletter over Letter.ly
I just have to share this! I scanned my email on my little phone this morning and saw a ridiculous amount of newsletters from TinyLetter. When I scrolled through and saw that they were all the same, my first thought was, damn- that sucks a fat one. Wonder if anyone knows that even happened- and, I have to admit, I was a little annoyed. When I hit the last one, I saw this letter, and my annoyance was replaced with one big fat smile.
Hi,
So… I just sent an email to everyone about a new feature (stats!) and unfortunately a bug (related to stats) caused the email to be sent 5-10 times to everyone.
Embarrassing.
Ironic.
Shamed.
Sorry about that. Almost positive it won’t happen again.

Ps- Special thanks to my friend James who called me just after I sent the email out. I happen to be on vacation right now with my parents in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. We were out getting pizza. My phone rings. James: “Dude, I just got a newsletter from you like 5 times.” Crrraaaap. Ran back to the hotel from the pizza place, got online & fixed it. Doh.
Pps- If it makes you feel any better, I have so many test accounts on TinyLetter that I personally received the email about 200 times. Digging through the mess now. :-O
When I was trying to decide on which private newsletter to embrace- and ask my lovely readers to embrace in kind, I started with letter.ly. And frankly, I was totally underwhelmed. We know why, bad formatting (well, no formatting and odd symbols), Amazon payments (really?) and poor customer service. When I first gave TinyLetter a shot and had a few customer service questions- they responded immediately and with a personal touch. I was sold. Add the HTML + Paypal + plus a friendly admin panel and I was one happy gypsy.
And this little admittance of human fallacy just makes me smile. And reitterates my decision to embrace the personal touch of TinyLetter.
Thanks for making me laugh first thing in the morning!
